The Heck Is Pickety Witch?

Pickety Witch started as a newsletter exploring the intersection of pop culture and social activism back in 2020. It went on hiatus when it became too much to juggle with my jobs at Future PLC and then IGN Entertainment, and is finding itself resurrected now that I've been on the receiving end of another layoff.

As with all resurrections, Pickety Witch is back but she's not the same as before. While you will always find me viewing art from a political lens — all art is political, after all — I found ensuring that activism was woven into every post burdensome in the end. I suspect my readers did as well, patient as they were.

And so, both Pickety Witch and its recently laid off founder are rising from the proverbial ashes (with, let's face it, some tears) to go independent. Your support depends on how active I am able to be here, and how long it survives. The more I don't need to rely on external work, the more I can bring to the coven.

Your subscription makes this site possible, and allows Pickety Witch to continue to exist. It also ensures that I can keep a roof over my head, and that my needy familiar doesn't get stressed by my stress.
