The Pickety Witch — The Neighbor's Gonna Die of Fright

Lil Bites

I know I said I was going to switch things up a lil bit — and that remains true — but all my friends did cool shit last week. So, y'know, here we are.

Matt made his Polygon debut with this incredible ode to Dude Bro Party Massacre III which is secretly stealth reverence for horror comedy and parody alike. Meag chatted with Skeet Ulrich and Matthew Lillard about Scream (ok,so, this was at the beginning of October, but I missed it then!) Monagle and I don't agree on Halloween opinions, but who can turn down such a well-written take?

And, finally, Christine just casually wrote a whole-ass book? How am I surrounded by such smart people? Who let this happen?

Joe Manchin is a mook

It's me, ya girl, the one who is constantly squawking about voting. Even if you have a democrat in office. Because every party is capable of falling out of touch, and West Virginia's Senator, Joe Manchin, is currently the result of every single headline that says "Democrats kill spending bill."

First and foremost, our inability to click on stories we like has resulted in a media landscape that results in the most inflammatory headline possible. In this case: the entirety of the republican party voted against the bill. One (1) democrat did. His name is Manchin, and he is a mook.

Vote. Vote old, out of touch senators out. But, yes. Still vote for them over fascists. I know it's annoying and it sucks but we literally cannot rebuild without you. You'll get this week's newsletter on election day across America. Did you vote? Get out there.

But What Can I Do About Build Back Better?

Ready for me to be redundant? Use your frustration to drive you to the polls today. Because by the time it gets to this point, the answer to what we can do is "not a whole lot."

You can call Manchin and tell him to stop being a mook: 202-224-3954. You can use a service like ResistBot to help you navigate this and other frustrating situations, too. They make contacting your reps, SO easy. (And anxiety free!)

Whatcha Watchin?

Hello, I am one of three people who enjoyed Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin. It's on Paramout+. (There's a free trial if you just want to see what's up.)

I'm a teensie bit late to the game, but I'm absolutely loving Inside Job on Netflix?

Need a horror movie? The IGN Team whipped up a list of the best 31 contemporary horror movies. I usually wouldn't share such a thing, but I'm honestly just still really impressed that the forming of the list was so fun and respectful even though we all vehemently disagreed on some of these entries. Anyway, yes I'm still clearly very happy there.

What We Do in the Shadows's season finale featured the most horrific creature in horror and I still haven't recovered. Thanks, I hate it! (It was v good.) I really struggled with the beginning of this season. But Ep 5 and on are all certified bangers.

Also, these are the best horror movies on Shudder. My list is objectively correct. Under no circumstances are you to @ me.
